= doubtless or “beyond question”

= Something that is self-evident to the degree that no “proof” is required — hence the strange entailment that the assertion is untested because it requires no testing.

As distinct from something which has been proven innumerable times (either through experiment or common sense); as distinct from words like: definitely, undeniably, unquestionably.*

* Unquestionably, for me, does not mean “inherently beyond question” but rather that it is time-tested etc

 

perceivable vs perceptible

perceivable: Conceivable, even likely, that I might perceive it. Potentially able to be perceived, but not necessarily being so at this time.

perceptible: A more-palpable perceivability. Able to be perceived, and I am in fact (or was) actually perceiving it.

minimize bluntness of a refusal or disagreement (gricean)

“yes” to acknowledge previous statement, “no” to mark return to earlier subject

“yeah” to basic answer, “no” to change degree

“yeah no” covers all the interactional bases — it acknowledges the interlocutor and (ambiguously) suggests agreement, while simultaneously (and ambiguously) indicating novelty in the form of divergence from (perhaps shared) presuppositions or expectations.
